Hey Guys, Brooks here again. Like everything else in men’s fashion, shirt collar styles are important to “tying your look” together. You may like the casual button down collar which is ideal for blazers and sport coats but too informal to be worn with a suit. A variety of spread collar are available from extreme cut back collars to modest spreads. The shape of your face as well as the knot of your necktie will determine the best collar for you. You never wear a pin collar shirt by accident. This is a very dressy collar which is ideal for dark suits to really make a statement. The button or snap tab collar is ideal for all business occasions. The round collar tips of the club collar provide an opportunity for a man to say, “I know what I am doing.” Custom made shirts allow a man to pick the collar, among other things, that is best suited to his fashion taste.

Hey Guys, Brooks here again. A lot of men are confused by the simple puzzle of how to tie their necktie. While there are many knots to choose from the most popular being the four in hand, the half windsor, and the full windsor. Not all of them are used correctly. The most important relationship is between the necktie and the shirt collar style.   For example the full windsor knot is not correct for a button down collar. The four in hand is not correct for a wide spread collar. The Reason? Balance!! The neck tie knot is right below a man’s face. It is one of the first things in a first impression. The correct knot is as important as the cut of the suit. Feel free to contact me if you find yourself in doubt about what knot goes with what shirt.

Hey Guys, Brooks here again. I hope your 2017 is treating you well so far. If you’re reading this, I thank you. This could mean you’re considering a change or an upgrade. So, why should you buy a custom made suit? Is it only because you’re “hard to fit” or “hard to please” or both? There are other reasons for spending the extra money a custom made suit would cost. True quality of construction can not be faked. It takes 50 hours of tailor time to construct a custom garment. What does this mean? It means the suit is hand cut to assure a fine drape on the customer. It means a full canvas coat front to ensure that the coat retains it’s fine finished look for years. Custom Made Suits, like all expensive things, are made to be different from what you find in department stores. Call us, we will show you hundreds of fabric choices and styles to help you decide if custom is for you.

But here’s something to consider, when was the last time you took a real audit of the clothes in your closet? Men tend to buy things on an as needed basis. This means rush fractured buying based on what is available and not necessarily what is best for you. Every man should have a good suit that fits correctly in his closet. As we all know, in life, unforseen things happen that don’t give you much time to get the suit you need on a couple days notice. Job interviews, funerals, and other special occasions have a way of taking us by surprise. At Brooks and Sons we take a special interest in providing our clients with a suit that suits his style of work, while dressing up his social life. So as you move forward this year, we hope you achieve all your goals and if you decide to take that next step with your wardrobe, just stop by anytime. Happy New Year and from Brooks and […]
