A typical size selection will be regulars and longs like this: Reg – 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50 Longs – 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50 When I was a buyer, the selection would look like this: 5’5 to 5’7 – Short 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46 5’8 to 5’11 – Regular 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 48 6′ to 6’2 – Long 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52 6’3 to 6’6 – X-Long 40, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52 What this means is that if you are 5’8 to 5’11 and weigh between 165 and 171 pounds, you wear a 40 regular and you will find a good selection of suits […]

Hello Gentlemen, Brooks here again. Today I’m going to tell you a little story. Once upon a time, long ago, I was in Houston, TX on business. Anyways, you get the picture, and to my dismay I forgot to pack any collar stays for my dress shirts! You can imagine what my shirt collar looked like at the end of day one. Not Good. I tried to get local mens retailers to sell me a set of stays – they were no help. When I paid for dinner, I realized I had the solution to my problem. I cut up one of my credit cards and fashioned a couple of sets of collar stays which I still have! This occurred during the Carter Administration. The FACT that something as small as a slender piece of plastic can effect you image in such a negative way may seem trivial. However if you are doing business with people for the first time and your appearance is sub-par, that small plastic stay can cost you big bucks. Afternoon Gentlemen, Brooks here again. Today, I pose you a question. What’s, best for you? In choosing a fabric for a custom made suit you have the option of selecting more season specific fabrics. For example, in the summer a lightweight worsted wool in the 8 to 9 ounce per yard category will serve you well as it breathes and resists wrinkling. Fabric weight is more important than color in hot weather. In cooler weather choose goods in the “S” or Super Range of 120. Higher numbers indicate finer fabrics which means warmer fabrics and not necessarily the best all around option for your suit. Ask your tailer to help you select which is best for you. Pocket Squares

Good day Gentlemen, I hope you’re all doing well and 2019 is treating you all well. Today I want to talk to you about your pocket squares. When you suit up and wear a pocket square it is important to remember that whether you fold the square or stuff it in the pocket with points exposed, it does not matter. What DOES matter is that the square NOT match the necktie. Matching ties and squares on ties and braces looks too contrived and sends a visual message that you are wearing wallpaper. Get a Mirror!!

It’s time to let reality settle in, yes Super Bowl LIII was a bit of a let down if you love offense, on the other hand, were we not entertained!?!? Now then, down to the business at hand. I frequently have men come to me to evaluate the fit of their dress clothing. Most of the time the individual sees himself the first time in the mirror in my showroom. A full length mirror is an inexpensive purchase that can be made at Wal-Mart, installed on the back of a door in five minutes and used forever. The mirror allows you to see yourself the others see you. It’s time to take stock in yourself.
